Copper is a type of metal roof that many residential customers choose for a variety of reasons. Copper roofs are lightweight, easy to install, and resistant to many elements, including fire, wind, and water. Copper can withstand freezing temperatures, and it will not rust. Copper is considered a lifetime material which makes it more expensive than other types of roofs.
If you have a flat roof, we will inspect your roof to determine which style is best. Generally, the best material for a flat roof is rubber, but each project is different.
Metal roofs can last much longer than other materials. For example, the average lifespan of an asphalt roof is 20 to 30 years; a metal roof can last as long as 50 or 60 years.
Wood and asphalt shingles share some of the same characteristics, including lifespan and protection. A wood roof should last between 15 and 30 years. Unfortunately, there are many disadvantages to having a wood roof. They are prone to pest infestation and offer little protection against fire. Because of this, asphalt shingles are typically considered the better choice for a residential roof.
Rubber is the best choice for a flat roof because it is durable and water-resistant. The downside to rubber is that it can heat quickly, causing the room beneath it to become hot. If you don’t mind spending a little extra money, you can choose a metal roof for a flat roof.
An asphalt roof will cost between $8,000 and $15,000. The exact cost is determined by the square footage of the roof. If you have smaller square footage, you should expect to pay closer to the $8,000 price range, whereas a larger roof can cost upwards of $15,000.
